Dieussart, François
Armentières, ca 1600 - London, 1661
Biography
He was a Walloon sculptor who worked for patrons of the European courts, such as the Stuarts in England and the Habsburgs. He made mainly portrait busts in the Italianate manner.
His work shows the influence of François Duquesnoy, with whom he was able to learn in Rome, although he was probably already an active sculptor when he arrived in Rome in 1622. He later worked in London from 1636 to 1640, then in The Hague and Flanders.
