Observations
This large canvas depicting Calvary is one of the rare works with a religious subject by Antonio Moro, better known as a portrait painter. The work is signed and dated 1573 on a rock to the right of the foreground, indicating that the artist was a painter to King Philip II. A misinterpretation of this signature led to the belief that it was a work by Antonio Morales (Martí y Monsó).
