Biography

His origin is unknown, but his signatures "Gil de Enberres" and "Gil de Urliones" have suggested he may have been from one of these two towns. He worked as a sculptor and woodcarver in Burgos from 1470 to 1501. From 1480 onwards, he collaborated with the sculptor Diego de la Cruz, with whom he had a close professional relationship.

He married one of the daughters of Pedro de Alcalá, with whom he had two sons: Diego de Siloé (sculptor and architect) and Juan de Siloé.
