Observations

The tapestry was divided into two sections.

This scene was part of a series of eight tapestries on the same theme, History of Alexander, belonging to the 2nd Duke of Medina de las Torres, Ramiro Núñez de Guzmán. Upon his death, it passed into the collection of his wife, Doña Catalina Vélez Ladrón de Guevara y Manrique de la Cerda, 9th Countess of Oñate (postmortem inventory 1684) and in 1709 among the tapestries of the 9th Count of Oñate; from where to the Altamira family and subsequently to the 24th Countess of Valencia de Don Juan, Adelaida Crooke y Guzmán.
