Description

Fernando Valenzuela y Enciso (1636–1692) wielded great power and influence during a period of Mariana of Neuburg’s regency. On 15 December 1676, a group of the Greats of Spain signed a manifesto, and within a few days a noble league was formed with the aim of having Juan José of Austria replace Valenzuela in government. Valenzuela was arrested at the Monastery of El Escorial and imprisoned in Consuegra Castle; his properties were confiscated and he was ordered into exile in the Philippines for ten years and subsequently to Mexico, where he died in 1692.

We are unsure of the location of his collection.
